The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program is a 12 month lifestyle program in which you meet for 16 weekly sessions, followed by 3 bi-weekly sessions and 6 monthly sessions all for one hour. This program provides a supportive environment where participants work together in small groups to learn about healthier eating and increasing their physical activity in order to reduce their risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes. The program is lead by a trained Lifestyle Coach in a classroom setting utilizing a facilitation model. The primary goals of the program are to decrease their body weight by at least 7% and increase their physical activity to at least 150 minutes per week.
