Bienestar Coordinated School Health Program
Social and Health Research Center INC
he SAHRC operates the Bienestar/Neema pre-kindergarten to 8th grade coordinated school health programs. The Bienestar/Neema school health program is culturally appropriate for high risk children. The program components target students, parents, teachers, food service staff, nurses, and after school care takers. Large studies published in scientific journals have shown that school health programs operated by the SAHRC have been shown to decrease blood glucose, obesity rates, and dietary fat intake; and to increase dietary fiber intake and physical activity in children. The Bienestar/NEEMA is recognized as a Successful Strategy by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and as a Research-Tested Intervention Program by the National Cancer Institute.
