Lifelong Adventure and Learning for People Over 50
San Antonio Oasis
Oasis seeks to promote healthy aging through lifelong learning, active lifestyles and volunteer engagement. Oasis offers approximately 900 educational classes annually at over 24 sites in Bexar Counties for people over the age of 50. Classes and workshops include evidence-based health programming - diabetes self-management education and support, chronic pain self-management education and support, chronic disease self-management education and support, A Matter of Balance:Managing Concerns About Falls, Texercsie and the Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program and research-based programming, Better Balance, Medication Matters, Safe at Home and various other health classes. Oasis is a leader in offering age appropriate fitness programming for adults over the age of 50. Including; Yoga, Yoga Stretch, Qigong, Tai Chi, AbCore-Chair Dynamics, water exercise, walking groups and much, much more. In addition, Oasis offers classes in the Arts & Humanities, Consumer Interest, Technology, and trips and travel. Approximately 285 older adult Oasis volunteers serve to help Oasis achieve its mission by providing intergenerational tutoring, office work, health fair committee, volunteer peer leaders/instructors for health and other types of courses, calling committee and more.
